Terms of Use

Effective October 1, 2026 · Last updated October 1, 2026

These terms set out the rules for using the Preparedism website, our free email courses and newsletter, and our digital planning kits. Please read them, especially the safety information in section 3. By using the Website, signing up or buying a kit, you agree to them.

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Gregory Hardiman (ABN 75 964 669 667), trading as GrokoryAI (“Preparedism”, “we”, “us” or “our”). They govern your use of the website at preparedism.com (the “Website”), our free email courses and newsletter, and our digital kits (together, the “Services”).

You must be at least 18 years old to sign up for or buy from the Services. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Services.

2. Who we are

Preparedism is a division of GrokoryAI. GrokoryAI is the trading name of Gregory Hardiman, based in Victoria, Australia. Our kits are sold through GrokoryAI, the company behind Preparedism, so you will see “GrokoryAI” as the seller at checkout and on your receipt.

3. Important safety information

Preparedism provides general information to help households plan for disruptions such as blackouts, evacuations and supply breaks. Please keep the following in mind:

  • It is not professional advice. Nothing we publish is medical, legal, financial, electrical, structural, fire-safety or other professional advice. For those questions, speak to a qualified professional.
  • Official instructions come first. In a real emergency, always follow the warnings and instructions of your local emergency services and authorities, even if they differ from anything we have written.
  • Your location matters. Laws, emergency arrangements, services and risks differ between countries, regions and cities. Check what applies where you live.
  • Your decisions are your own. You are responsible for the plans your household makes and for deciding what is safe in your circumstances, including for anyone in your household with medical, mobility or other particular needs.
  • Plans can’t remove risk. Preparation can make a disruption easier to handle, but we cannot promise any particular outcome.

If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number.

4. What we offer

  • Free email courses: short daily lessons on a single preparedness topic.
  • A newsletter: one practical preparedness email every two weeks, plus occasional news about new courses and kits.
  • Digital kits: printable planning kits, sold separately.

We may change, add to, pause or remove any part of the Services at any time.

5. The fictional household

Our lessons and kits use a recurring fictional family (Thomas, Maria, Anna, Patrick and their pug, Kujo) to show how a household might work through a plan. They are not real people, not customers and not evidence that any technique or product works. Worked examples are labeled as examples and are for illustration only.

6. Digital kits and purchases

Our kits are sold and delivered through Gumroad, which acts as the merchant of record. Your payment is processed by Gumroad, your receipt and any sales tax are handled by Gumroad, and Gumroad’s own terms and privacy policy apply to the transaction. We are responsible for the kit itself.

Prices are shown at checkout, in US dollars unless stated otherwise. Kits are delivered electronically, usually straight after purchase, as downloadable files.

Kits are practical templates and starting points. You are responsible for filling them in, adapting them to your household and checking them against your local circumstances.

7. Refunds

Refunds are handled through Gumroad under the refund policy shown on the kit’s checkout page at the time you buy. Anything offered there is in addition to, and does not limit, your rights under consumer law (see section 12).

To ask about a refund, email us at support@preparedism.com with your order details.

8. Your license to use a kit

All content on the Website, in our emails and in our kits (including text, worksheets, graphics, logos and design) belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

When you buy a kit, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it for your own household. You may print as many copies as your household needs and share completed copies with the people in your plan, such as family members and emergency contacts. Unless we agree in writing, you must not:

  • resell, share, upload or distribute the kit files, or the blank kit, to others;
  • publish the kit or pass it off as your own; or
  • use it as the basis of a product or service you sell.

The same applies to our emails: you are welcome to forward an email to a friend, but please don’t republish our content without permission.

9. Acceptable use

When using the Services, you agree not to:

  • break any law, or use the Services for an unlawful purpose;
  • sign up someone else without their permission;
  • try to gain unauthorized access to our systems, or interfere with their security or operation; or
  • scrape, copy or harvest content by automated means.

10. Third-party services and links

The Services rely on, and link to, third-party services such as Gumroad (checkout) and official emergency information websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, terms or practices. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider’s own terms and privacy policy.

11. Disclaimers

We work to keep our content accurate and useful, but preparedness guidance changes and circumstances vary. To the extent the law allows, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available”, and we do not promise that any content is complete, current or suitable for your situation.

12. Your consumer rights

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under consumer law that cannot lawfully be excluded, including:

  • In Australia, the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, set out in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth). Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
  • In other countries, such as the UK, the European Union, Canada, New Zealand and the United States, the mandatory consumer protections of the place where you live.

Where the Australian Consumer Law allows us to limit our liability for failing to meet a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited, at our option, to supplying the kit again or refunding what you paid for it.

13. Limitation of liability

Subject to section 12, and to the maximum extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for any loss or harm arising from decisions you or your household make using the Services, including during an emergency;
  • we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss; and
  • our total liability to you for any claim connected with the Services is limited to the amount you paid us for the relevant kit in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where the law does not allow that liability to be limited.

14. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to compensate us for any loss or cost we reasonably incur because you broke section 8 or section 9 of these Terms.

15. Privacy

We handle personal information in line with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Changes apply from when they are posted and do not affect kits you bought before the change.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If you are a consumer living outside Australia, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, or your right to bring a claim in your local courts where those laws allow it.
